Wild Roots KC Program
Located in West Waldo, each day provides opportunity for your child to learn and grow.
The Wild Roots KC Registered In-Home Daycare dynamically engages children on multiple levels of development that all children need.
With a strengths-based perspective, accessible and inclusive guidance, and play-based exploration, your child’s development will be fostered in seven main areas.

Self-Help & Independence
Sensory
Physical Movement
Language & Communication
Creativity
Cognitive
What does this mean?
It means that in the same way adults engage in a variety of physical and mental activities, children in the Wild Roots KC Program do too.
From washing hands (self-help/independence) to enjoying music (creativity), to talking with a friend (social/emotional), to making future plans (cognitive), to reading (language/communication), children in the Wild Roots KC program develop, learn, master, and grow in a variety of exciting new ways that adults can forget they once enjoyed or had to practice to develop.

Nature Play Year-Round
Playing outdoors in nature’s natural elements significantly promotes children’s growth and development when compared with children who don’t spend as much time outdoors.
Sun exposure increases children’s immune system function and bone health through the human body’s natural production of vitamin D.
Climbing and bumpy terrains promotes safe risk-taking which develops children’s confidence, resiliency, and independence by understanding through trial and error what the body is capable of doing.
Dirt-play exposes helpful bacteria to children which develops appropriate immune regulatory circuits.
Chances of adolescent nearsightedness is decreased when young children have opportunity to exercise their eyes in long distance vision such as looking at a soaring bird or airplane in the sky.
Outdoor organic gardening gives children the opportunity to learn about scientific processes in a sensory rich hands-on way.
Engaging with the nature increases children’s focus and productivity and decreases impulsivity and hyperactivity.

What about vacations and illness?
There are no tuition adjustments for time missed due to family vacation or illness. The daycare will take up to 1 week (5 days) paid vacation yearly. Parents will be notified on the brightwheel app at least two weeks in advance. Refunds will be issued for any days that the daycare has to close due to provider illness or unforeseen events.
What’s your sick policy for families?
When children are ill and contagious, it is important to keep them home. If a fever or other illness arises during daycare hours, parents/guardians are contacted.
How do you discipline?
Children experience tantrums and frustration fits. They also benefit from guidance and developmentally appropriate expectations that is simple to comprehend. My approach to guidance and direction is to deescalate, stay calm, be clear, and offer choices. Each child has strengths and weaknesses and it is my job to help children navigate, use, and master a variety of skills, including how to experience their emotions.
